When shipping goods overseas, it might be worthwhile considering the purchase of cargo insurance, rather than just relying on the standard limited liability cover, offered by most freight forwarders. In the unlikely event that you have to make a claim against the freight forwarder more often than not the standard cover offered is simply not enough and any payout received will be minimal.

Therefore we would recommend the purchase of cargo insurance, which offers “all risks cover” of the consignment, meaning you are fully covered for the cost of the goods. Of course purchasing cargo insurance is not mandatory, but highly recommended, especially if you are shipping high valued goods.
